Great Dane Nutritional Requirements
The standard weight for most Great Danes is at least 100 pounds for females and 120 pounds for males. Unlike the smaller breeds that use more energy, Great Danes uses less energy per pound as compared with the other dog. That’s the reason why they eat less than you think of being a giant breed.
Great Dane breeders and veterinarians recommend at least 23-24% of protein and 12-14 % of fat in their diet. Glucosamine & Chondroitin that helps in bone development and joint support. Omega 3 & 6 Fatty acids for shiny and lustrous coat. Lite and lean is the general rule of thumb until about 2 years old.

Hip Dysplasia- Malfunction of hip joints, common in giant breed puppies. The condition is both genetic and environmentally influenced.

Great Danes sure get the short end of the stick when it comes to longevity. This breed lives between 8-to-10 years, with some living only 6 or 7 years, and a lucky few reaching the ripe old age of 12.
