The name "retriever" refers to the breed's ability to retrieve shot game undamaged due to their soft mouth. Golden Retrievers excel at retrieving game for hunters, tracking, sniffing out contraband for law enforcement, and as therapy and assistance dogs. They’re also natural athletes, and do well in dog sports such as agility and competitive obedience
Golden retrievers have an instinctive love of water, and are easy to train to basic or advanced obedience standards.
The breed is friendly and tolerant that makes them fabulous family pets, and their intelligence makes them highly capable working dogs.

Golden Retriever Nutritional Requirements
Golden Retrievers are extremely active and playful large dogs. So, you need to feed them according to their unique dietary needs, activity level, weight, etc
This breed needs just the right combination of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates to thrive and live a healthy and happy life.
Protein:Golden Retrievers need to have at least 30% amount of protein. Anything less is just unacceptable. This dog breed needs more protein to maintain their muscular bodies as compared to other dog breeds.
Fat: 12-18% is the ideal amount of fat that should be in Golden Retriever’s diet. In fact, the Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids in your dog’s diet help reduce shedding and add shine and gloss to your dog’s fur---making your furry friend look healthier.
Carbs: This needs to be adjusted according to the dog’s level of activity and age. A good dog food must contain a minimum of 30-35% carbs.
Note: Stay as far away as possible from filler ingredients which includes soy, corn, rice, etc.

Obesity- Golden Retrievers are prone to obesity as these dogs love to eat. Therefore, it is important to feed them a well-balanced diet since the very beginning.
Dilated Cardiomyopathy- This is caused due to canine congestive heart failure.
Cancer- Golden Retrievers are prone to cancer and the most common type of canine cancer includes: Hemangiosarcoma (Blood Cancer), Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer) & Lymphosarcoma (Lymphatic System)
Diabetes- Diabetes can be treated through insulin injections and a diet.
Arthritis- This can be caused by infections, immune mediated diseases, trauma and metabolic issues.
